Eating disorders (ED) are serious, life-threatening conditions that require appropriate care and management by a team of mental health and medical professionals. The registered dietitian is an essential component of this multidisciplinary team approach. This presentation will cover where to start with an ED client (i.e. assessment, how to ensure the person has a team or help them create one, rapport, meal planning) and how to deal with strong resistance and fears (how to introduce/encourage weight restoration, challenging foods, symptom interruption/decrease). Nutrition Care Process tips will also be given.Presenters:
