UWMC Northwest currently has an outstanding opportunity for a temporary DIETITIAN.

Clinical:
Demonstrates the ability to accurately assess patients’ nutritional status by conducting nutrition-focused physical assessment; reviewing medical diagnosis, weight and diet history, pertinent lab values, and medications; and obtaining information from the patient and/or family.
Demonstrates ability to implement a care plan utilizing the appropriate standards of care, diagnostic care plan, and consideration of patient’s wishes.
Demonstrates the ability to document outcome based medical nutrition therapy education and therapy plans and communicates nutrition care plans with other members of the health care team as well as the patient and family.
Demonstrates ability to use evidence-based practices when making diet recommendations and recommendations for parenteral/enteral nutrition.
Demonstrates ability to evaluate patient’s education needs and readiness to learn. Identifies learning needs, barriers to learning, preferred learning style, and education level.
Provides education to patient and family members based on identified needs.

Management/Leadership:
Demonstrates leadership skills by providing direction to new employees; nutrition interns; scheduler and diet technicians when appropriate.
Demonstrates ability to provide constructive feedback by participating in peer evaluations, chart audits, and new employee interviews.
Demonstrates effective and appropriate critical thinking skills and decision-making abilities consistent with UWMC mission and values.
Demonstrates awareness of financial impact through charting and documentation, billing, staffing, scheduling, quality improvement projects, and changes to formularies.
Demonstrates respect and commitment to diversity. Acknowledges backgrounds, perceptions, assumptions, beliefs and values that may be different from one’s own. Strives to contribute to a culture of inclusiveness and respect.

Working Relationships:

Technical:
Demonstrates ability to use technology necessary for documentation, communication, and training. Programs may include ORCA (Cerner), Epic, Kronos, CBORD, e-care, MS Word, e-mail, catalyst, LMS.

General Nutrition Clinic:
Demonstrates knowledge of a wide-range of nutrition-related issues: diabetes, cardiac, renal, GI disorders, fertility, obstetrics, men’s and women’s health, and eating disorders.
Demonstrates collaboration with medical teams by attending interdisciplinary team meetings and rounds and participating in clinic projects and educational programs.
Demonstrates initiative in maintaining area-specific competencies and continuing education.

Bariatrics:
Demonstrates expert understanding of the nutrition needs for morbidly obese populations desiring either surgical or non-surgical therapy for weight loss.
Demonstrate ability to lead group classes as well as provide nutritional counselling on a one-on –on basis.
Demonstrates collaboration with medical teams by attending interdisciplinary team meetings and rounds and participating in clinic projects and educational programs.
Demonstrates initiative in maintaining area-specific competencies and continuing education
